Security integrators following the traditional business model focused on security products alone and relying on recurring monthly revenue (RMR) from monitoring accounts are struggling to stay in business. “If you’re not trying to add value to the alarm system, it’ll be on the list of things when they (homeowners) need to make cuts,” warns Mark Recene, Chief Innovation Officer and vice president of sales for Baltimore, Md. based HS Tech Group, noting that he sees many integrators losing their service contracts.
