Most business owners face the ongoing challenge of keeping their properties safe, for both employees and customers. When HS Tech Group was contacted by a local Baltimore businessman who owns multiple shopping centers, the situation had reached a critical point. Several tenants operating a wide range of businesses were experiencing repeated burglaries and acts of violence, creating an unsafe environment and causing customers to avoid the property altogether. Although the shopping center was already equipped with security cameras, the system was purely reactive and did little to deter criminal activity. Working closely with the owner, HS Tech Group implemented a comprehensive, multi-layered strategy.
The first phase focused on upgrading the existing infrastructure and installing advanced security cameras with intelligent analytics and integrated two-way audio. These cameras can detect people, identify suspicious behavior, and actively deter crime by activating flashing warning lights and audible messages reminding individuals that the property is under video surveillance. The built-in two-way audio also allows security personnel to speak directly through the cameras, issuing verbal warnings in real time when suspicious activity is observed.
The second phase included the deployment of on-site security guards fully integrated with the camera system. When unusual activity is detected, guards receive instant alerts and can view live video on their mobile devices, allowing them to respond immediately and take appropriate action. If conditions require escalation, HS Tech Group has the ability to implement live two-way central station video monitoring. This advanced protocol enables trained monitoring operators to actively observe camera feeds, communicate directly with individuals on the property, issue clear instructions, and, when necessary, contact law enforcement with real-time descriptions of suspects, vehicles, and ongoing activity.
The results were immediate and impactful, criminal activity was significantly reduced, tenants felt safer, and customer confidence returned. So pleased with the outcome, the property owner has since partnered with HS Tech Group to deploy the same solution at a third shopping center.
